Supported independent living (SIL) is one of the kinds of NDIS funding. These supports are provided to people with physical or mental disabilities who need them and want to live as independently as possible.

If a person with a disability cannot live independently or with their family, SIL can help them. SIL provides them with an opportunity to receive the support they need in a shared home.

SIL gives them an opportunity to enjoy independence, have an excellent social life, and access the support they need. People living in SIL receive daily support with tasks that include personal care, such as showering and dressing.

It also includes household tasks such as preparing meals, shopping, and cleaning. It also helps with medical needs such as administrating managing medication. SIL aims to help individuals develop their individual skills while encouraging them to live as independently as possible.

SDA & NDIS

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.19.3″ header_3_font=”|600|||||||” header_3_text_align=”left” header_3_text_color=”#993399″ header_3_font_size=”18px” header_3_line_height=”1.2em” width=”60%” module_alignment=”left” custom_margin=”1px||10px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Not all people with disability can live in Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). The NDIS decides who can live in SDA. To be eligible, you must have extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.

The NDIS pays for people to live in Specialist Disability Accommodation. If the NDIS says you are eligible for SDA, they include these payments in your plan.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.16″ custom_padding=”||6px|||” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.19.3″ header_3_font=”|700|||||||” header_3_text_color=”#686868″ header_3_line_height=”1.2em” width=”75%” module_alignment=”left” custom_margin=”||1px|||” global_colors_info=”{}”]

How can I get SDA support?

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.19.3″ header_3_font=”|600|||||||” header_3_text_align=”left” header_3_text_color=”#993399″ header_3_font_size=”18px” header_3_line_height=”1.2em” width=”60%” module_alignment=”left” custom_margin=”1px||10px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]

To get Specialist Disability Accommodation payments in your NDIS Plan, the NDIS has to decide that you are eligible for SDA.

It’s helpful to get a good support coordinator who can show the NDIS that you have extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.

The NDIS is all about you having choice and control. Under the NDIS, where you live and who supports you are separate.

In all SDA properties, you may choose who provides your planned support.
